Healthcare Technology and News: Siemens Healthcare's Soarian, INVISION and MedSeries4 Products Certified

Siemens Healthcare has received complete EHR ONC-ATCB 2011/2012 Certification for Soarian EHR version 2010, INVISION EHR version 2010 and MedSeries4 EHR version 2010. These Complete EHRs are 2011/2012 compliant and have been certified by the Certification Commission for Health Information Technology (CCHIT), an ONC-ATCB, in accordance with the applicable certification criteria for hospitals adopted by the Secretary of Health and Human Services.

In a press release, John Glaser, CEO of Siemens Health Services Business Unit, said, “Our intent is to position our entire customer base to pursue the HITECH incentives, as demonstrated by our comprehensive approach to certification. Siemens is committed to helping all of our customers succeed in not only achieving meaningful use, but also in delivering exceptional care as supported by their Siemens solutions. Now that we've received certification, we continue to focus on providing tools and services that will help our customers cross the meaningful use finish line and address the emerging challenges facing the industry.”

Siemens Healthcare is also one of the first vendors to have accomplished certifying a range of software "bundles'" by certifying six additional Modular EHRs. This approach covers the broadest customer base and allows customers to attest certification on the Siemens functionality that they have purchased, even if they have not purchased their entire solution from Siemens. This also allows customers to more easily support achievement of meaningful use through the mix of products, both Siemens and non-Siemens, to meet their specific needs.

Denton Arledge, vice president and chief information ifficer for WakeMed Health & Hospitals in Raleigh, N.C., said, “The scope and complexity of ARRA-HITECH requirements make understanding how to satisfy meaningful use measures a real challenge. It would be much more daunting without the depth of skill and resources available to us from Siemens Healthcare.”

Recently, Siemens Healthcare was in news when the company unveiled Biograph mMR whole-body integrated MR-PET system capable of simultaneous data acquisition.
