BridgeWave's 80 GHz Millimeter Wave Systems Increases Bandwidth at Aspen Healthcare

BridgeWave Communications, supplier of high-capacity 4G millimeter wave backhaul and gigabit wireless connectivity solutions, announced that its 80 GHz millimeter wave systems have been deployed by Aspen Healthcare to enable connectivity between Cancer Centre London and the Parkside Hospital. The ultra-high capacity gigabit Ethernet wireless from BridgeWave has increased the bandwidth at Aspen Healthcare significantly and has delivered a 45 percent cost savings over the next three years.

In a release, Aspen Healthcare’s IT director, David Williams, said, “Due to the exceptional improvements in connectivity with the BridgeWave solution, we now have the ability to build out our infrastructure and improve the entire spectrum of data services that are being used across the network. BridgeWave’s GigE solutions significantly reduce concerns about how or where to provision high bandwidth services within the infrastructure, ultimately saving us a significant amount of time.”

David Williams had been evaluating network connectivity solutions that could increase bandwidth and bring down the costs for the currently in use 100 Mbps connection, and extend support for the expansion of oncology and cancer treatment at the Cancer Centre London. Traffic on the network infrastructure that was previously used at Aspen Healthcare was subject to regular interruptions and down time because of capacity restrictions of the network.

David Williams said “BridgeWave’s solution has enabled us to deliver significantly increased bandwidth to the business while demonstrating to management that significant cost savings can be made over traditional leased lines. Most importantly, we are able to transfer important data including large imaging files securely and quickly over a reliable network.”

Before going ahead with deploying the BridgeWave systems, the IT team at Aspen Healthcare partnered with Nouveau Solutions, Ltd, U.K.-based Value Added Reseller, to test the link performance and throughput of the BridgeWave 80 GHz systems.

Amir Makleff, president and CEO of BridgeWave, said, “More healthcare organizations, like Aspen Healthcare, are choosing our gigabit wireless links to transmit their critical data, as they have shown to be a secure, reliable and cost efficient alternative to leasing or trenching fiber. Aspen Healthcare will be able to maintain connectivity and ultimately serve their patients more effectively without network downtime.”
