CSC Strengthens its Position in Healthcare IT Map through the Acquisition of iSOFT

In an effort to enhance its health care research and development capabilities, CSC is taking over of iSOFT Group Limited, one of the world's largest providers of advanced healthcare IT solutions. In a press release, CSC said that it has just closed the acquisition deal with iSOFT.

The acquired assets are going to complement and strengthen healthcare integration and services portfolio, CSC officials noted in a statement. The acquisition is expected to strengthen CSC’s position in the healthcare information technology by accelerating its strategic growth plan.

As a result of the acquisition, iSOFT's 3,000 global employees, including those from major research and development centers in India, Spain, UK, Australia, New Zealand and Central Europe become the part of CSC's workforce. In addition of adding to its capability of developing more innovative solutions, the acquisition is likely to help CSC gain a robust set of clients in new and emerging markets. CSC treats the acquisition as a milestone in the expansion of its global healthcare business.

Prior to its acquisition by CSC, iSOFT Group Limited was the largest health information technology company listed on the Australian Securities Exchange, and among the world's biggest providers of advanced application solutions in modern healthcare economies. iSOFT's e-health software solutions are designed to manage patient information and drive improvements in their core processes. It will be worthwhile to mention here that more than 13,000 healthcare providers and governments in 40 countries use iSOFT's e-health software solutions. It is claimed that more than 200 million patients across five continents benefit from iSOFT solutions everyday.

“Joining forces with CSC is a major step forward for iSOFT, putting us in a position to accelerate the delivery of our Innovation Agenda. By combining both organizations we have created a major force in the healthcare industry with significant opportunities for future growth through richer solutions and much enhanced access to the global market. Building on this platform, our ambition is to become one of the world's leading healthcare IT suppliers,” former CEO of iSOFT and newly-appointed Chief Operating Officer of CSC's healthcare business Andrea Fiumicelli noted in a statement.

Last week, Oracle named CSC a Diamond level partner, the highest ranking available, in the Oracle PartnerNetwork.
