Hop-On, Inc, a global ODM and OEM manufacturer of electronic devices, is no stranger to diversification. While much of the organization’s work is dedicated to electronics, Hop-On was the first company to develop a disposable phone, and they also own subsidiaries that focus on designs that have very little to do with designing and manufacturing electronics.
One subsidiary of Hop-On that can surprise many is their company Re-Medical. Re-Medical is a company that develops and manufactures transdermal patches for the delivery of herbal and natural remedies, and health supplements.
What makes Hop-On’s ownership of Re-Medical even more shocking is exactly what remedy Re-Medical has been in the process of researching and developing: cannabis. Hop-On and Re-Medical has proudly announced on April 2 2014 that they have applied for a medical marijuana license in the state of Washington, one of the few states that has legalized medical marijuana. This is following an announcement in February that they will be applying for a license to sell their product in Colorado.
Re-Medical developed their transdermal patch by isolating plant-based chemicals from cannabis and other plants. There are 80+ cannabinoids that Re-Medical uses in creating their transdermal patch, and they are in the process of applying for a patent for their product.
The patch comes in two options a high THC product, or high CBD patch. They will come in either 10mg or 20mg doses.
The medical field is not the only place that Hop-On has been researching cannabis. Another subsidiary of Hop-On, USAcig, embraced the legalization of marijuana in Colorado. On March 19, USAcig announced that it will be releasing e-cig hardware meant for use with their line of cannabis based oils. Recreational marijuana usage is federally illegal, but has been legalized in the states of Washington and Colorado, giving Hop-On the go ahead to produce these products.
