Satellite Healthcare's SPIN Preferred by Medical Professionals, According to Recent EMR Survey

In May of last year, the Nephrology Clinical Solutions (NCS) Research division conducted a survey among healthcare professionals that were involved at any stage of the practice of kidney dialysis. Satellite Healthcare is one of the nation’s top not-for-profit providers of kidney dialysis services among other related amenities, and their SPIN suite was rated by the survey as the top electronic medical record (EMR) system by satisfaction score in the dialysis setting.

SPIN is an acronym for the Satellite Partners Information Network, and among a selection of over 30 EMR systems evaluated by the survey, they placed in the top 10 percent of satisfaction among several categories. SPIN helps maintain an efficient workflow in dialysis centers and clears up time for staff to dedicate to patient needs by providing a comprehensive collection tool for a patient’s critical dialysis information which doctors and administrators have access to on a variety of platforms, 24 hours a day.

The survey seems to point out that several medical professionals are unimpressed with their current EMR systems – or at least, those without SPIN. Only 24 percent of survey responders claimed being “very satisfied” with their current EMR system, while more than half were only “somewhat satisfied” and a full 25 percent were “somewhat or very dissatisfied” with their current EMR solution.

Mark Burke, President and CEO of Satellite Healthcare was pleased to report that their EMR system comes so highly recommended by medical professionals, stating that “SPIN also represents significant strides toward our goal of ‘meaningful use’ of EMR – that is, used to achieve significant improvements in care – as set out in HITECH [The Health Information Technology for Economic and Clinical Health Act]. These survey results reflect the positive feedback we encounter every day in our centers.”
