Time Warner Cable Business Class Starts 'Virtual Visit' Trial with Cleveland Clinic

Telemedicine seems to be the next step for the healthcare market. The many examples of it helping doctors around the world reach out to more patients — such as two elementary schools in South Carolina that have transformed their health rooms with telemedicine clinics — should serve as ample proof of this. The fact that major companies in the communications space, like Time Warner Cable Business Class (TWCBC), seem interested is also a great sign.

Indeed, TWCBC recently began its first “Virtual Visit” telemedicine trial with Cleveland Clinic.

The “Virtual Visit” solution is part of the company’s Home Health Monitoring strategy, which aims to facilitate the communication of healthcare providers and patients from practically any distance. All solutions that fall under this product umbrella aid in the delivery of high-quality care that is crucial to patients and cost-effective to providers.

"Our healthcare solutions are designed to support medical providers looking to transform the delivery and quality of patient care by leveraging our advanced technology, operational scale and high speed network," said Greg King, senior vice president and chief product and strategy officer for TWCBC, in a statement.

The “Virtual Visit” solution allows healthcare professionals at the Cleveland Clinic to deliver services remotely to a patient’s home, with communication made possible through any television equipped with conferencing technology. The two-way transmission is completely secure thanks to encryption.

“To truly transform the healthcare system of today and prepare us for the healthcare needs of tomorrow, we have to rethink how, and where, we deliver care to patients,” said Dr. Eiran Gorodeski, MD and director of Center for Connected Care at Cleveland Clinic. “We know that great care can be delivered where patients want to be most: in their homes, and we see telemedicine as a way to help us do that better and more efficiently.”
