Parker Jewish Institute for Healthcare and Rehabilitation Deploys PointRF's NoWander System

The Parker Jewish Institute for Health Care and Rehabilitation has announced that it will deploy PointRF’s NoWander platform to keep patients safe and the hospital running efficiently.

The NoWander system consists of RFID tags affixed to hospital patient armbands, equipment and staff IDs that track their movements through the facility. They can be assigned custom permissions and safety settings. The aim is to increase safety, efficiency and dignity of care while avoiding false alarms or unnecessary lockdowns.

“Parker continually searches for new and innovative solutions that will provide our residents with the best, state-of-the-art services,” said Michael N. Rosenblut, President and CEO of Parker Jewish Institute. “PointRF’s NoWander Platform fits that description by delivering unparalleled safety and security, while also providing management with insight into how we can maximize efficiency and create the highest level of care for our residents.”

Information is collected and available to all hospital stakeholders in comprehensive reports. It will also eventually be used for predictive analytics.

The installation of NoWander is part of an overhaul of the hospital’s legacy resident and staff systems.

Parker will first deploy the new system to its highest-risk residents. Since one of the hospital’s specialties is in geriatric care, the new system could be an important asset.

“Our relationship with Parker Jewish Institute for Health Care and Rehabilitation is a milestone in the adoption of platform-based solutions,” said Richard Bauer, President and CEO of PointRF Solutions LLC. “By working with this industry leader, PointRF expects to gain invaluable insights into the needs and operations of Long Term Care facilities, which we can use to further help this market manage, assess, predict and respond to resident behavior.”

Another New York-based hospital, the Queens Center for Rehabilitation and Residential Healthcare, has also used PointRF’s NoWander to maintain a secure yet homelike environment for its residents.
