Meridian Community Care Selects EarthLink Complete Hosted Voice


IT and communications provider EarthLink has secured another customer of its EarthLink Complete Hosted Voice solution. In this instance, Ohio-based behavioral health non-profit Meridian Community Care has selected the hosted IP PBX solution for use as a fully integrated VoIP system that facilitates more responsive 24/7 communication with clients, while maintaining HIPAA and 42CFR confidentiality compliance.

Back in July, Ideal Software Systems also chose EarthLink Complete Hosted Voice for its VoIP system.

Hosted Voice, which won a 2012 Internet Telephony Product of the Year award, eliminates the cost of purchasing a physical PBX, while offering productivity-focused features such as voicemail and e-mail, Find Me, Follow Me and Auto Attendant. Despite its level of functionality, the solution still offers ease of use with a simple, Web-based portal for system management and customization.

For Meridian, this level of usability was a huge factor in selecting Hosted Voice, as the center had experienced difficulty with communications systems in the past.

"We were working with a number of different systems, and finding it progressively difficult to support all of them," said Bob Steffen, director of operations at Meridian Community Care, in a statement. "We actually had three different phone systems in one building. Internal communications were challenging, let alone speaking to someone from the community."

Meanwhile, being a healthcare provider, Meridian required a system that could easily keep its employees in contact with clients seeking assistance at any time of the day. Its final key requirement was flexibility, since Meridian’s administration is in the process of expanding, particularly through the acquisition of a new facility.

After investigating several alternatives, Meridian selected EarthLink Complete Hosted Voice for its ability to meet all of these requirements. Indeed, the system’s Find Me/Follow Me functionality allows staff to forward calls to mobile devices, making it much easier to route after-hours calls to on-call counselors.

"Our Hosted Voice solution is ideal for non-profits because it's designed to allow them to step away from technology management and instead devote their IT energies to their community mission while keeping operating expenses in check,” said Michael D. Toplisek, EarthLink executive vice president of Sales and Marketing.
