Vue PACS Makes Impact in Rural Healthcare

Rochelle Community Hospital, located in Rochelle, IL (population 9,500), has recently chosen the CARESTREAM Vue PACS and Vue Motion viewer to help remote doctors care for critically ill or injured patients.

Scott Stewart, manager of Information Services, Rochelle Community Hospital stated, “With Vue Motion we can quickly and easily make reports, images and prior exams available to the dozens of staff physicians, referring physicians and specialists we serve. The interface is so easy to use it takes only five minutes to be proficient, and even MR and CT images load quickly. Another key advantage is that it enhances data transfer with our EMR. We are extremely satisfied with its performance.”

Vue PACS is touted as being a picture archiving and communications system that displays and stores digital images along with patient information via work stations throughout a network, thus allowing these images in be viewed in remote locations.  In addition, CARESTREAM’s Vue Motion, is a medical image viewer that is supported by iPads and mobile Web-enabled tablets and can be accessed from virtually any location. This viewing tool can display numerous medical documents, X-rays and images, and even echo cardiogram color video files with rapid transmission functionality.

"We need to make sure we have correctly identified the severity of each patient's condition, determine what treatment needs to take place and whether the patient needs to be transported to a larger facility for specialty care," added Stewart. "Our new Vue Motion viewer equips specialists to review any type of imaging exam. These specialists can assess a heart attack or stroke victim, for example, and work with our physicians to give each patient the greatest chance of a good outcome."
