4iiii Viiiiva Heart Rate Monitor Enables Wireless Device Communication on an iPhone

If you are an athlete, chances are you want to monitor your activity to keep tabs on your progress and review your performance. But, in order to receive key feedback about your body, you have to be connected to be an adapter, which gets in the way of your workout.

Fortunately, 4iiii Innovations, Inc., a company known for its sports-related activity monitoring Sportiiii heads up display, has introduced a new product at CES International 2013 that doesn’t require you to be all wired up. Viiiiva allows the athlete to adjust settings, review activity and receive performance feedback from their iPhone or iPod at anytime, anywhere.

Today, 4iiii develops products designed to enhance performance through wearable technologies. The company is focused on providing relevant information to athletes when they need it.

The Viiiiva is a chest strap heart rate monitor (HRM), which the company describes as "lightweight and comfortable," with support for fitness apps including RunKeeper, Training Peaks and Runtastic, which will give information about speed and activity levels. The first ANT+ device to sync to iOS devices without an adapter, the Viiiiva syncs via Bluetooth and a proprietary use of ANT+ in real-time to your iPhone or iPod, delivering instant feedback.

“The Liiiink technology inside Viiiiva turns the iPhone/iPod touch into a cycling computer or running monitor, making performance monitoring smarter, faster and safer,” said Alana Baxter, product manager at 4iiii Innovations, in a statement.

Additionally, Liiiink enables Viiiiva to channel output from ANT+ sensors like foot pods, bike speed and power meters to Bluetooth Smart format to send to iPhone/iPods.

Viiiiva is the ideal companion for Sportiiii, 4iiii’s Heads-up Audio/Visual Performance Coach that provides runners and cyclists with performance information without taking their eyes off the road.

Baxter continued, “As a group of triathletes we need a system that connects all our devices to our iPhone/iPod providing us with on-the-go monitoring, file saving, and performance review. It was through recognizing this need that we came up with the idea of Viiiiva and created our unique Liiiink technology.”

Viiiiva is currently available for $79 at www.4iiii.com and at select retailers. The product will be on display at CES 2013, LVCC, south hall ANT+ booth #26700.
