Cerner's Social Community Jumps and Jives With The Platform, Earning Top Awards

Jive Software announced today that Cerner, a provider of healthcare technologies and services, was recently honored by IDG's Computerworld Honors Program as a 2011 Laureate in the “collaboration” category for its uCern™ community, which is based on the Jive platform.

uCern, Cerner’s social collaboration community, allows users to share best practices, locate expertise faster and improve solution development, all on a secure, integrated social platform, according to a press release at prnewswire.com.

uCern is described as a “place where you can share your thoughts and ideas, make connections with your peers across the healthcare industry, and gain insights into how Cerner is approaching many of the issues facing healthcare today,” according to itunes.apple.com.

The annual awards program honors companies who create information technology applications that promote positive social, economic and educational change, the press release says.

"Healthcare is a highly complex, constantly changing business that varies by country.  Successful health outcomes depend on the right information getting to the right people, at the right time," said Brice Jewell, senior manager of the uCern community at Cerner in the press release as posted at prnewswire.com. "We knew that leveraging social business for mass collaboration, innovation, and productivity enhancement would transform the way we do business. uCern helps our associates, clients and partners do just that – all of which provide critical contributions to the entire healthcare industry."

Cerner is an organization that helps users change the way they use and share information and think about and pay for healthcare, according to its Website.

The uCern app allows users of Iphones and Ipods to create content, discuss issues in the healthcare industry with peers, and stay connected by joining healthcare and social groups, according to the information posted at itunes.apple.com. According to the press release at prnewswire.com, uCern – which connects more than 2,900 organizations including 35,000 clinicians, IT professionals, administrators and Cerner associates worldwide – is expanding by more than 1,000 members per month. Almost 90 percent of Cerner associates and 35 percent of clients have contributed content, and the site has one million page views per month.
