Healthcare Technology and News: MPM Electronic Health Record Receives Certification

LSS Data Systems has announced that its Client/Server Medical and Practice Management (MPM) v5.6.4 Electronic Health Record has received complete EHR ambulatory certification, having been tested and certified under the Drummond Group's Electronic Health Records Office of the National Coordinator Authorized Testing and Certification Body (ONC-ATCB) program. The EHR software, in addition to being 2011/2012 compliant in accordance with the criteria adopted by the Secretary of Health and Human Services, has also been judged as capable of enabling eligible providers to meet the Stage 1 meaningful use measures required to qualify for funding under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA).

Client/Server MPM version 5.6.4 has been designed to help organizations with enhancing the safety of patients, streamlining processes and improving communication across departments and care teams. In a release, Greg Osmonson, LSS Vice President of Programming & Software Development, said “We're very pleased to have passed the certification hurdle in both our MAGIC and Client/Server product lines. This is an important step in helping our customers qualify for the ARRA incentive payments available to providers that demonstrate meaningful use.”

Even though healthcare providers using the EHR systems of certified vendors are qualified to receive federal incentives, the certification by the Drummond Group does not guarantee the receipt of incentive payments nor does it represent an endorsement by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.

In a release, Rik Drummond, CEO of the Drummond Group, stated “We’re ready to help transform the industry, by providing the sophisticated software testing services that ensure that vendors and hospitals are offering systems, that are capable of meeting the meaningful use standards, required to obtain incentive funds; as well as the rich functionality required to move the clinical care needle forward.”

LSS Data Systems develops and supports Electronic Health Record and physician practice management software used by healthcare organizations worldwide.
