Mosaic Telecom Introduces Femtocells Based on 3GPP Release 9 Open StandardFeb 25, 2012 (Close-Up Media via COMTEX) -- Mosaic Telecom, a regional US operator serving rural Wisconsin, is now providing its customers with femtocells based on the 3GPP Release 9 open standard. In a release dated Feb. 17, the Company said the Mosaic Home Cell is provided by Ubiquisys, the developer of 3G and LTE small cells, as part of a Nokia Siemens Networks femtocell solution. Mosaic Telecom is the first operator to deploy femtocells in AWS spectrum (UMTS Band IV). After three successive vendors were unable to provide a solution, Ubiquisys stepped-in and delivered. "After a series of false starts with vendors who promised but could not deliver, we are delighted to be working with Ubiquisys and Nokia Siemens Networks. Our femtocell solution is ideal for customers in rural locations, especially when combined with our LTE backhaul solution.
