USPTO Issues New Patent to DR Systems

The United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) has issued a new patent to DR Systems, an independent provider of medical imaging and information systems.

The US Patent No. 7,787,672 relates to matching medical images according to user-defined rules.

DR Systems notes that the newly awarded patent describes methods of matching medical images according to user-defined matching rules.

The credit of this milestone goes to five technology inventors including Evan K. Fram, M.D., Steven M. Greim, Murray A. Reicher, M.D., F.A.C.R., and John J. Schumacher.

The technology is set to benefit users who can leverage the matched medical images displayed according to user-defined display rules.

These matched medical images may be visually compared in a manner that is suitable to the viewer's viewing preferences.

Already, many are benefiting from this technology that is implemented in DR Systems’ Unity Picture Archiving and Communications System (PACS) module used by radiologists for performing diagnostic reading of digital patient images.

DR Systems and its Unity RIS-CVIS-PACS platform is very popular and this is evident by the fact that KLAS recognized the company as the leading PACS vendor and product in its 2011 Top 20: Best in KLAS Awards: Software & Professional Services report published in December 2011.

Unity PACS was appreciated for the intuitive design of the user interface, depth of functionality, and ease of use.

Medical imaging is in news these days and recently, Peake Healthcare Innovations announced its plans to debut new medical imaging management strategy at HIMSS 2012.
