Global Wireless Health Market to Reach $38.51 Billion by 2016

The application of wireless technologies and devices is rapidly growing across the globe, which is boosting the overall market need for advanced wireless solutions. In turn, it is encouraging product developers and manufacturers to bring enhanced solutions to the market.

Reportlinker.com, a search engine offering access to the largest online collection of industry, company and country reports, has announced the launch a new research report titled, “Wireless Health Market (WLAN, WMAN, WPAN, Sensors, Smartphone, Tablet, PC, Mobile APPS) - Global Trends, Opportunities, Competitive Landscape and Forecasts to 2016.”

West Wireless Health Institute, or ‘WWHI,’ defines wireless health as ‘the use of wireless technologies for personal health management and health care delivery.’ Further, it encompasses solutions that facilitate continuous access to healthcare information, expert advice, or therapeutic intervention enabled by ubiquitous telecommunication networks; and the example applications include real-time monitoring, medication compliance and imaging, adds WWHI.

A large number of health providers such as hospitals and nursing homes, pharmaceuticals, medical and diagnostic laboratories, home care, telehealth providers and physicians across the globe have been deploying various wireless technologies, handheld devices and mobile apps within their applications. According to a forecast, worldwide wireless health market will touch the figure of $38.51 billion by the year 2016, with a compound annual growth rate, or ‘CAGR’, of around 19.43 percent during the period between the year 2011 and 2016.

Wireless network technologies market and wireless sensor networks market form the core wireless technologies segment. Within the wireless healthcare industry, wireless network technologies such as Wi-Fi , WiMAX and wireless personal area networks such as Bluetooth, Z-wave, ZigBee and UWB are deployed in seamless integration with wireless sensor networks and wireless wide area network technologies, such as CDMA, GPS, GPRS and 3G.

Additionally, rapid growth of the wireless health market is also receiving a heavy boost by the increasing adoption of handheld devices and mobile apps. Apart from the growing market of smartphones, tablet pc, mobile phone, PDA and pagers, a variety of mobile apps are being developed to fulfill the needs of both patients and the healthcare professionals.

The report says that during the year 2011, the North American region accounted for almost 45 percent of the total worldwide wireless health market, wherein the U.S. grabbed the biggest market share of the sector within the continent. In the same year, Europe proved to be the second largest market for wireless health worldwide, Asia-Pacific region lying at the third spot. Within the Asia-Pacific markets, China emerged to hold the biggest market share, reveals the new study by Reportlinker.

In January 2012, Reportlinker revealed a new market research report entitled, “Microprocessor Market to 2015- Enterprise Shift to Cloud Computing and Popularity of Mobile Computing Increasing Demand for Multi-core Processor Chips,” published by GBI Research.
