Montage Wins Three More Healthcare Clients for its Searching and Data Mining Technology

Montage Healthcare Solutions, a provider of healthcare data mining and performance measurement software for radiology, announced the adoption of its enterprise search and performance analytics technology by three more clients. The announcement was made by the company’s managing director William Boonn at the Radiological Society of North America's 97th Scientific Assembly and Annual Meeting, where Montage was a first-time exhibitor.

In a press release, Montage clarified that its patented Montage software solution has been implemented and is in productive use at Keck Medical Center of USC, Children's National Medical Center and University Health Network.

By providing the researchers and other healthcare professionals with a simple way to search their own radiology information system (RIS) and electronic medical records (EMRs) for specific diagnosis, the Montage software significantly helps in the advancement of radiology studies. The software lets the users locate exemplary cases for education, quality improvement or research.

“Hospitals already have the data they need, Montage simply makes it transparent and aids radiologists in finding exactly what they're looking for,” Boonn explained.

The solution comes with natural language processing (NLP) engine, which searches all medical imaging reports stored in the system of a healthcare facility. Its Google-like user interface is extremely user-friendly and enables the radiologists find the cases they need by themselves – without any IT support.

“Software solutions like Montage help us identify cases of critical events documented within the radiology report, such as pneumothorax on a chest x-ray, and then review the physician documentation to see how effectively the event was communicated and treated,” Nabile Safdar, M.D., Pediatric Radiologist at Children's National Medical Center in Washington, D.C. explained in a statement.

“When you have so many images, it's difficult to find a pattern or remember a specific case. Montage finds any positive finding, can search on more complicated terms, and uses a lexicon for string or multiple term look-ups,” added Kevin Wang, IT Manager at Keck Medical Center of USC in Los Angeles, California. Approximately 60 clinicians use Montage at USC.

Montage has also been deployed at the Medical Imaging department at University Health Network in Toronto, Ontario. The department, according to the press release, is going to leverage the software to link radiology and pathology findings. The system will also be used to support data analysis and research needs through Montage's unique ability to perform keyword searches; and identify positive or negative report findings.

Earlier this month, Montage Healthcare Solutions announced an exclusive reseller agreement with Nuance Communications Inc., in which Nuance will sell Montage's healthcare data mining and performance measurement technology to its established base of radiology customers.
