RetroFit Finalizes Specialized Healthcare IT Practice as HP Healthcare Elite Partner

In an era in which electronic health records (EHR) are not only becoming the norm, they are becoming the law, the demands on the healthcare industry in terms of IT are on the rise. Healthcare companies and facilities must maintain IT infrastructures that are compliant with legislation such as HIPAA, eDiscovery, PCI, HiTECH/ARRA and more, all the while preparing for the expansion of Electronic Health Records and Health Information Exchange that will come into play with the federal Affordable Care Act (ACA).

A number of IT services companies are well positioned to meet the new era of healthcare IT. Massachusetts-based RetroFit Technologies, an IT solution provider, is announcing that it has built a specialized healthcare practice using Hewlett-Packard’s Healthcare Practice Program combined with its own IT service practice.

RetroFit, which traditionally specializes in managed IT services, project management, consulting services, hardware sales, and support and maintenance, focuses heavily on the healthcare and long- term care markets. Today, the company is a certified HP Healthcare Elite partner and has met very high standards in a broad range of HP Healthcare solutions.

RetroFit says it’s following the market’s needs.

“The time to act is now,” said Tim Lawlor, President and CEO of RetroFit. “Healthcare facilities of all shapes and sizes will be required to follow the same rules and meet the same standards. RetroFit is posed to provide the necessary guidance to help healthcare environments in meeting these requirements.”

As an HP Healthcare Elite partner, RetroFit is recognized in the marketplace for providing greater value to customers based on its technical expertise and customized IT solution offerings. HP introduced its PartnerONE Elite program in November 2009 to help provide partners with a platform from which to highlight their expertise to customers. The designation has been well received in the marketplace, as customers have an easier way of identifying HP partners with expertise in a particular area.

“Retrofit has a committed healthcare team who has completed a stringent healthcare training program with a concentration in long-term Care. The team has done an outstanding job providing technology to LeadingAge members,” said Cindy Loranger, HP’s Healthcare Specialist Manager. “RetroFit is a perfect fit for long-term care facilities that need a strong IT advisor who can help align technology with their initiatives.”
