Phreesia Helps Medical Practices to Become Eligible for Government Funding

Phreesia, the patient check-in company, claimed that its offerings when used in conjunction with a certified meaningful use system could help medical practices attain eligibility for government funding.

The concept of meaningful use supposedly came out of the Health Information Technology for Economic and Clinical Health (HITECH) Act, signed by President Obama on February 17, 2009. Incentives are awarded to practices that install and utilize electronic medical records and electronic health records technology.

By using Phreesia, one can get legible documentation, automatic eligibility and benefits verification, payment from patients, and secure access to patient information. Medical practitioners can provide their patients with a PhreesiaPad upon their arrival. Patients are subjected to an automated electronic interview and from that clinics can obtain legible documentation that captures patients' medical history, demographic and insurance data and electronic signatures are collected on all practice policies and HIPAA contracts.

PhreesiaPad is an easy-to-use portable, touchscreen kiosk that replaces the patient clipboard and is being currently used by over 10,000 clinics. Some of the benefits offered by the PhreesiaPad are: better documentation; automated insurance verification; increased patient payments; enhanced clinical care; improved patient satisfaction; and more.

Officials with the company ascertained that Phreesia strives to maximize efficiencies at medical practices, while simultaneously improving the quality of patient care. Their meaningful use capabilities achieve both of those goals: While automating the check-in process and helping practices satisfy core meaningful use objectives, Phreesia encourages patient engagement in their own healthcare outcomes. This is a win-win for all key stakeholders.

One of the clients of Phreesia acknowledged that using copay and patient balance collections on Phreesia not only frees up their check-in person from having to run credit cards through a machine, it makes it easier and more private for their patients. The Phreesia staff has gone above and beyond in making this extremely easy for patients and so affordable for their offices.
