Green Hills Software and Continua Join Forces to Create Interoperable Personal Connected Health Solutions

Two organizations have joined together to create a system of interoperable personal connected health solutions for better patient care.

Green Hills Software, a provider of safety- and security-certified embedded software solutions, announced today that it has joined Continua Health Alliance, a non-profit, open industry coalition of more than 240 healthcare and technology companies working together to create such a system, according to the company’s press release.

As a contributing member of Continua, Green Hills Software will help the Alliance build this kind of system to help individuals and organizations better manage health and wellness safely and securely.

Continua’s guidelines allow certified products to exchange health information seamlessly. To get certified, Continua implemented a program with the recognizable “Continua Certified” logo, signifying interoperability with other certified products, according to Continua Health Alliance.

"Green Hills Software has decades of honed expertise developing certified, safe, secure, and reliable technologies for critical applications in a wide range of markets such as medical, aerospace, defense, networking, industrial, and transportation applications. With this experience, Green Hills is uniquely positioned to help Continua and the medical industry as a whole and advance the quality of healthcare by enabling the creation of safe, effective, interoperable medical devices and systems," said Jim McElroy, director of industry business development at Green Hills Software, in the press release.

Green Hills Software will work with its coalition partners to develop and define Continua technical guidelines for future connected health applications, according to the press release. In addition, the company plans to participate in Continua's Test and Certification Program to ensure its products and services qualify under the Alliance.

Green Hills Software use and expand the Green Hills Platform for Medical Devices, comprised of its MULTI® integrated development environment, INTEGRITY® and µ-velOSity™ real-time operating system technology, and associated middleware and services, to ensure Continua certified medical device interoperability.
