Healthcare Technology and News: HealthPartners Leverages Diversinet's MobiSecure Platform to Improve Quality of Care


Diversinet Corp., a provider of secure mobile applications, announced that it has signed a new a renewable multi-year agreement with HealthPartners, a nonprofit healthcare organization in the United States, to license the company’s MobiSecure Health platform.

The platform will help HealthPartners to improve convenience, mobile communications, quality of care and affordability for subscribers.

Under the terms of the agreement, HealthPartners will utilize Diversinet's MobiSecure platform to support applications, developed with Diversinet, to build upon HealthPartners' mobile portfolio.

Company officials with HealthPartners said that the company plans to begin rolling out applications later in the year. However, initially, the company will offer programs to help subscribers communicate with their care managers via secure, two-way messaging on a range of smart phones and devices that the MobiSecure platform supports.

The MobiSecure platform is a suite of secure mobile healthcare applications offered by Diversinet. It supports Apple iPhone, Google Android, RIM BlackBerry, Windows Mobile, Symbian and Palm devices.

Company officials with Diversinet said that the first users will be women with high-risk pregnancies to avoid premature births and those patients with chronic illnesses who have been recently discharged from hospitals, to reduce hospital readmissions.

According to Babette Apland, senior vice president, health and care management, the MobiSecure platform will facilitate the company to communicate with and increasingly monitor patients in a more personalized, more detailed and continuous manner. The company anticipates that the new applications will contribute in company’s ongoing efforts to improve quality of care, patient outcomes and affordability."
