Healthcare Technology and News: Patient Access Solutions Showcases Digital Pen Technology

Patient Access Solutions, Inc., whose products are designed to allow health care providers an easy migration to the EMR environment, will introduce its PASHealth D-PAS’ digital pen and paper Mobipen Care System. This presentation will occur at the “New Tools for Health, Home Care for the Future” spring program.

The “New Tools for Health, Home Care for the Future” spring program is a cluster initiative of the Embassy of Sweden. The program will be held on May 26, 2010 at the House of Sweden in Washington, D.C.

The Mobipen Care System from Patient Access Solution will offer a smart and easy way to finishing documentation successfully for the $55 Billion yearly home health care market. The system was developed with the Swedish IT company Catrel AB and powered by Anoto Functionality.

There are eight companies and care organizations from the United States and Sweden who were chosen to present at the "Home Care for the Future" seminar. They’ll be presenting new technologies and tools that help enhance the life quality of millions of older and disabled people. Patient Access Solutions is one of these companies.

An expert panel will talk about the practicality of these technologies and the future needs in this developing field. The expert panel includes Bengt Andersson from the Swedish Institute of Assistive Technology (SIAT); Elinor Ginzler, the vice president of Liveable Communities, AARP; and Majd Alwan from the Center of Aging Services Technologies, or “CAST.”

Representatives from the National Association for Home Care & Hospice, Health Care Institute Center for the Aging, American Association for Homecare and more will also be partaking in the “New Tools for Health, Home Care for the Future” spring program.

Patient Access Solution’s Mobipen Care System gathers data at the point of service like the name of the staff that has attended to the patient, recognizing the patient being cared for; the amount of time spent of every patient; and possible changes in the health situation of the patient.

Using the Mobipen Care application, the written information is electronically uploaded to the computer system of the agency. The written information is then immediately turned into usable data for tracking and accountability.
