A new report from
Ambient Insight revealed that the global market for eLearning reached $27.1 billion in 2009. The report also found that demand is growing by a five-year compound annual growth rate of 12.8 percent and that revenues will reach $49.6 billion by 2014.
According to Tyson Greer, CEO of Ambient Insight, the compound annual growth rate in Asia is growing by 33.5 percent. The
eLearning revenue opportunities in specific countries in the region are attracting suppliers and investors from around the world. For example, the demand in Eastern Europe is growing by 23.0 percent.
The report, called “The Worldwide Market for Self-paced eLearning Products and Services: 2009-2014 Forecast and Analysis” predicted the expenditures for five types of online training products and services across seven regions, namely North America, Latin America, Western Europe, Eastern Europe, Asia, Middle East and Africa. As expenditures are often concentrated in specific countries, this report ranks those countries for suppliers.
The evidence-based data in this report is designed to help suppliers create global business models, develop regionally-competitive products, expand into regional markets, and generate significant revenues and profits in regional supply chains.
According to Sam S. Adkins, chief research officer at Ambient Insight, North America will be the top distance learning buyers throughout the 2009-2014 forecast period. In the 2009 market, Western Europe accounted for the second highest expenditures. It is expected that, by 2014, Asia will overtake Western Europe and account for the second highest global expenditures.
The report forecasts revenues for five types of products and services for each region. These include packaged content, custom content services, platform and tool hosting services, authoring software tools and installed platforms. Adkins added that the aggregation of demand across all regions shows that the demand is positive for each online training product type. This report provides a product analysis for each region.
The report provides extensive examples of competitors, products, and buying behavior to help suppliers understand the international market. In fact, more than 350 suppliers selling specific product types and operating in specific countries and regions have been cited in this report to help international suppliers identify local partners, distributors, resellers, and potential merger and acquisition targets.
