Healthcare Technology and News: Amcom Releases v2.2 of the Central Control Module of its Fusion Series

Amcom Software, Inc. announced the release of version 2.2 of its Central Control Module of its Fusion Series. This module forms the hub of the Fusion Series and receives alarm and notifications from systems such as nurse call, fire, security and building management and sends them to any communication device.

The software is designed to ensure faster response and better care and safety provision for hospital patients besides enhancing care given to elderly residents and hotel guests, according to the company. This new functionality enables Amcom to offer end user device interoperability.

“The Fusion Series is very effective because it integrates such a wide variety of alert and alarm systems with the devices carried by highly mobile staff,” said Nathan Buzza, executive vice president and general manager of Commtech Wireless, a Division of Amcom Software. “The new version of the Fusion Series Central Control Module will help customers across various industries achieve greater communication efficiencies during their work day.”

The new release features enhanced KIRK and SpectraLink device integration. Direct confirmation that messages have been received can be obtained besides offering call back details. Staff can now take necessary action or can prioritize response depending on the situation. Also as handset numbers can be identified staff duress situations can be responded to rapidly, explained company officials.

With expansion plans in Europe, Amcom has included Swedish language support. Swedish customers can leverage the Fusion Series in their native language enabling staff to understand the situations which require attention.

The implementation of the wireless communication transfer protocol (WCTP) enable users on wired networks to send and receive messages to and from wireless networks using the wireless interfaces. Messages can be sent to digital signs allowing more people to see alerts by over riding the general information on the sign.

TAP Gateway supports telephony call-back for nurse call integration. This functionality provides a user-friendly interface for configuring parameters within a nurse call system. Easy configuration of the SpectraLink or Cisco call-back functionality is possible so wireless phones can connect to bedside pillow speakers enabling quick response, said Amcom.

Amcom specializes in technology solutions required by organizations for managing mission-critical, day-to-day, emergency and event-driven communications. Amcom Software’s solutions for call center communications, emergency management, wireless messaging middleware, and paging infrastructure are used widely by organizations in hospitality, healthcare, education, business, and government.
