Healthcare Technology and News: PSI Wins Contract from Department of Veterans Affairs

Planned Systems International, Inc. (PSI) has bagged a contract from the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs to provide program and implementation support for its new recovery plan project.

Headquartered in Columbia, Maryland with offices in Falls Church, VA and San Antonio, TX, PSI delivers an enterprise approach with an emphasis on its core capabilities in the areas of Full Systems Development Life Cycle Support, Healthcare IT Solutions, Information Security, Network / Desktop Services, Distance Learning, and e-Business.

PSI will support Veterans Affair’s My Recovery Plan, which is a set of clinician and veteran-developed enhancements to My HealtheVet – a veteran-focused health care portal for the Department of Veterans Affairs.

PSI’s team will help in the development, design, testing, and implementation of My Recovery Plan features for My HealtheVet. The new functionality of My Recovery Plan will integrate veterans into the care and treatment of symptoms of mental illnesses and facilitate, through close coordination with health care providers, recovery-based initiatives for their health and well-being.

Terry Lin, Chief Executive Officer, speaking from PSI’s Healthcare IT Solutions office in Falls Church, VA said that,  “Today’s press coverage highlights the issues confronted by our veterans in today’s society, and we are pleased to contribute our support toward those who have served our nation so honorably.”
Of the 25 million veterans currently alive, nearly three of every four served during a war or an official period of hostility. About a quarter of the nation's population -- approximately 70 million people are potentially eligible for VA benefits and services because they are veterans, family members or survivors of veterans.

Gerald Pizer, PSI’s Chief Operating Officer and a Navy Veteran, noted that, the new project reflects PSI’s mission to deliver health information technology solutions focused on the needs of their clients. He said that this new project is important work, and look forward to working with the VA to deliver mental health alternatives to the veterans and their health care providers.

Since its inception in 1998, PSI has been providing IT solutions and services to federal government and private sector organizations.
