Vivecoach, a company that claims to make health fun for employees by offering a wide array of corporate health challenges including fitness, nutrition, and wellness, recently announced the successful completion of a company-wide “Step” challenge for one of its clients, Flextronics.
In a press release, Vivecoach said that the challenge, which attracted some 2,500 flextronics employees across the U.S and received the full support from the Flextronics management team, was one of Vivecoach’s most successful challenges to-date.
The Vivecoach step-challenge was the inaugural event of Flextronics sponsored 2011 U.S. wellness program. All participating Flextronics employees received a pedometer to track fitness progress. Challenge participants reported over 577 million steps in the month-long challenge. A significant number of employees reported weight loss and reduced stress levels as a result of the participation in this challenge.
There were more than 200 teams comprising of 12 employees each. The teams signed up on the Vivecoach website. The top stepping teams received nominal prize. Led by Flextronics’ “Wellness Champions”, the challenge showcased the excitement of the employees in the planning and execution of wellness events.
“This challenge exceeded our expectations and we received considerable positive feedback from employees who participated in the program. In fact, there was such enthusiasm about the program that many teams created social boards to encourage teammates and show results. Vivecoach provided the tools and support for our employees to be successful and we expect our employees to continue this sense of community around wellness,” Suzan Ramsey, senior director of U.S. Benefits for Flextronics noted in a statement.
Inspired by the success of the step-challenge, Flextronics has decided to sponsor a number of challenges throughout the coming year to promote wellness and support fitness goals. To help achieve this important objective, Flextronics has recruited employee wellness champions at each U.S. site to provide local wellness program leadership.
Recently Flextronics announced that it received the Cisco Smart Services Award for Operational Excellence. This award recognizes outstanding Cisco vendors for their operational achievements.
