FirstRain Raises $30,000 for Ovarian Cancer Research Fund

San Mateo, California based B2B analytics software company FirstRain announced that it has raised more than $30,000, which the company is going to donate to Ovarian Cancer Research Fund (OCRF). The money has been accumulated as part of the company’s active team building events.

In a press release, CEO of Ovarian Cancer Research Fund Audra Moran said that the donation will help fund the organization’s scientific research to find better diagnostics, treatments and ultimately a cure for ovarian cancer.

Mention should be made of the contributions of FirstRain CEO Penny Herscher toward the raising of such an enormous fund. She reportedly too up 2.4 miles swim in the Maui Ocean off Makena beach on Labor Day and used the online fundraising site Crowdrise, to garner support for the cause. She was inspired by her own mother’s fight against ovarian cancer, now in remission, the sources at the company revealed.

Herscher was joined in the Maui ‘Aumakua Swim by two other FirstRain colleagues, FirstRain Western Regional Sales Manager Thomas Lai and Marketing Manager Jordy Brazier and supported by their families.

“OCRF celebrates Penny and FirstRain for their accomplishments as both athletes and fundraisers and is so grateful for the support. This donation will help fund our scientific research to find better diagnostics, treatments and ultimately a cure for ovarian cancer”

“Ovarian cancer is detected in more than 21,000 women a year in the U.S. and more than 15,000 women die. There is currently no effective means of early detection for this disease and so we are raising money for OCRF and early detection research,” Herscher said in a statement.

Earlier FirstRain announced it has procured $6.4 million in new funding led by global technology venture capital firm Oak Investment Partners. In an earlier press release, the company revealed its plans about using this new capital to help maintain its growth trajectory, grow the sales team and invest in the product development, which will keep FirstRain in the forefront of the B2B digital information industry.
