Words+ Rolls-Out EyePro GS System

Since long, augmentative communication (speech output) is used to help students or adults with language disorders by utilizing assistive technology devices such as computers or hand held devices. Nowadays, these devices including the eye gaze systems are not only being used in medical industry but also in military systems, marketing and media applications and more.

With an aim to provide customers with augmentative communication solutions featuring ease-of-setup and –use, Words+, Inc. - provider of augmentative communication and assistive technology hardware and software for people with disabilities – announced the roll-out of a new eye gaze system, EyePro GS.

EyePro GS is a new offering by Words+ that enables a person to operate an augmentative communication system or computer by simply looking at the screen.

Designed and manufactured in-house, the new EyePro GS eye gaze system featuring Guided Calibration and Access Styles, according to Jeff Dahlen, president of Words+.

Dahlen added, “We've been working on our own proprietary design for about two years, and we have achieved and exceeded our internal product performance objectives, including our goals for ease of setup and use. The EyePro GS is a major achievement by our engineering department that required the integration of a complex series of hardware and software design decisions.”

Officials with Words+ said in a press release that EyePro GS’ in-house design will not only widen eye gaze offerings but also increase margins considerably.

According to Dahlen, the new EyePro GS is a unique solution featuring Guided Calibration and Access Styles. It significantly improves the company’s margin, allows addition of proprietary features, secures the company’s participation in the eye gaze industry, and also enables us to sell multiple solutions to serve a larger customer base.

Dahlen added, “While there is some overlap of functionality between the various eye gaze products we offer, each product embodies unique hardware and software features and mathematical algorithms. These differences will appeal to particular clients based on how the unit meets their specific physical needs within their communication environment, and will appeal to buyers' personal preferences based on the overall look and feel of the products. With this extension of our eye gaze product line, we're excited to be able to enter competitive client engagements with multiple eye gaze solutions."

Gaylon Ponder, national sales manager for Words+, said in a statement, "Introducing EyePro GS adds important new, sellable features to the eye gaze industry such as easier, more stable setup, increased client productivity, reduced fatigue, and ease of portability between home, school and work environments.”

Ponder added, “We set the goal that EyePro GS would not be just another eye gaze, and our engineers provided more accessibility to advanced adjustments and diagnostic screens than our competitors. I expect EyePro GS to significantly increase our sales of both eye gaze and communication systems, and to expand the eye gaze market in general as people experience better eye gaze success with EyePro GS than in past attempts with competing products. I am pleased to go to market with a product that is superbly functional, with advanced features to benefit people who use their eyes to communicate or operate computers."

Words+ is a wholly owned subsidiary of Simulations Plus, Inc. (SPL). SPL is a premier developer of drug discovery and development simulation and modeling software.

In recent news, SPL recently launched DDDPlus version 4.0 with expanded and powerful capabilities for simulating in vitro dissolution experiments.
