Clinical Link Now Has Direct Secure Messaging

The healthcare industry is introducing many different information and communications technology (ICT) offerings to improve a system bloated with inefficiencies that has resulted in a budget totaling almost three trillion annually. Even when a new technology is implemented, it has to go through an approval process to ensure it is not violating many of the rules and regulations that are part of the healthcare infrastructure. This is especially the case with technology used to communicate electronically between physicians and other healthcare providers, as well as patients.

The new Direct Secure Messaging platform for Clinical Link by ZirMed, a health information connectivity and management solutions company, is a secure and HIPAA compliant messaging solution for the healthcare industry.

As part of the Clinical Link cloud-based communications platform, healthcare professionals will be able to exchange messages and clinical documents across the United States no matter what type of EHR or practice management system they have in place.

This flexibility does away with many of the barriers with propriety platforms that limit how physicians communicate. Removing this barrier is one-way in which the industry can eliminate the unnecessary processes that are in place for effective communication, which in the long run end up costing more money across the board.

The cloud based communication platform gives physicians the ability to communicate anywhere and anytime while at the same time meeting the strict HIPAA-compliant physician communications protocols that are in place. Unlike fax and scanning as well as traditional mail, which can be time-consuming and ineffective, the Direct Secure Messaging platform delivers a seamless transition by simplifying digital document exchange across care locations.

Clinical Link provides:

  • Digital document exchange across practices
  • A sortable work list that compiles patients being sent and received for care
  • A document repository in which all the documents are stored indefinitely so they can be viewed and retrieved with multiple easy search options
  • Automated task tracking and notes with alerts when a digital document is viewed by the recipient so the person reading the document can be identified

"Our clients are already using Clinical Link to send and receive referrals, so adding secure messaging that allows provider organizations to have a single platform for all clinical communications was a natural evolution. All of our clients, especially those that are moving toward ACO and other value-based care models, will have a new way to easily and securely share medical information, enabling seamless transitions of care," said Ric Sinclair, ZirMed head of product.
