Physicians Interactive Launches iPhone, Android Versions of Omnio Medical App

Physicians Interactive is launching free iPhone and Android versions of its Omnio medical app.

The iPhone version of Omnio is for iOS 7 or higher, and is available for download through iTunes. The Android version is for Android 2.2 or higher, and will be available for download through the Google Play Store by the end of this month.

Both versions include a free, three-month trial of The Merck Manual for Healthcare Professionals in the app.

More than 100,000 health-care providers downloaded the iPad version of Omnio since it became available in 2012. Users gave it an approximate 5-star rating on the Apple Store.

"We are building on the successes of the iPad user experience with Omnio in launching these powerful iPhone and Android versions," Donato Tramuto, CEO and chairman of Physicians Interactive, said in a statement. "Medical professionals are demonstrating that Omnio performs well within their workflow, with daily open rates for the app and the time spent on each visit growing tremendously over the past several months. Now, clinicians will be able to access, digest and share the same information they need to treat patients – immediately, right at the point of care – through their mobile phones as well."

Omnio can handle the increasing amount of information for healthcare providers. In fact, medical information actually doubles every three to five years.

Omnio provides a customizable interface, and offers one-touch access to medical questions. These include answers to drug information questions, condition overviews, over 500 medical calculators, and daily updates in medicine.

"Omnio's open architecture makes content from almost 2,000 sources available, enabling clinicians to access valuable information specific to their interests and specialties through the industry's premier app," Gautam Gulati, chief medical and innovation officer at Physicians Interactive, explained in a statement. "All of this information is just one tap away on Omnio through their mobile phones, so healthcare professionals don't have to rummage through multiple digital and print resources to access information when and where they need it most – right at the point of care."

In addition, users can earn continuing medical education (CME) 2 credits by reviewing new medical literature.
