Orion Health Honored at 2014 Frost & Sullivan Australia Excellence Awards

The Frost and Sullivan Australia Excellence Awards took place for the ninth straight year this February. This time around, global e-technology company Orion Health took home the coveted Growth Excellence Award for Healthcare IT.

The award is one among many given out at the annual Frost & Sullivan Excellence Awards, which F&S has conducted annually to “recognize companies in a variety of regional and global markets for demonstrating outstanding achievement and superior performance in areas such as leadership, technological innovation, customer service, and strategic product development,” according to the Excellence Awards website. All told, 14 companies were provided awards at the ceremony.

The site explains that several parameters were used to select the companies considered for awards in telemedicine, biotech, life sciences, pharmaceuticals, and medical technology. Among the parameters are revenue growth, market share and market growth, demonstrated leadership in new product introduction and innovation, breadth of products, major customer acquisitions, subscribers and growth in subscriber base, and business and market strategy. Baseline levels, the site says, were established from 2013 levels.

Orion states on its own website that it was established in 1993 and has grown to include over 700 employees in 17 global offices. The company creates software that allows healthcare practices to exchange clinical information, link legacy software with next-generation systems, and map data structures.

Concerning winning this year's award, news site CMO quotes the Global eHealth Director at Orion Health, Andrew Howard:

“Winning this award recognizes the exceptionally talented team that we have built across Australia and demonstrates our goal to consistently exceed market expectations around innovation and customer satisfaction,” he said.

Rhenu Buller, senior vice president of healthcare at Frost & Sullivan, commented that collaboration and integration within healthcare companies is necessary for the delivery of their services. She said Orion Health's products make it possible for organizations to share information and engage patients.

Orion lists hospitals and health systems, health information exchanges, government and public health organizations, clinicians, and physicians as among the company's markets.
