Wheelings & Dealings: Knipper Acquires MediMedia Health's Sample Management Line

J. Knipper and Company, Inc. is perhaps one of the biggest household names in the medical industry, being the largest supplier of medical marketing and sample management services to U.S. pharmaceutical companies. Now, the company has announced that it has completed the acquisition of MediMedia Health's sample management business, further boosting its profile and solidifying its place as a supplier for pharmaceutical technology solutions.

Jim Knipper, CEO of the acquiring company, said, “Knipper's acquisition of the MediMedia sample business will further our mission of being the nation's leading samples management services provider. We are excited about the opportunity this creates, as adding these services from MediMedia Health enables our customer to leverage the broadest and most diverse library of best practice and sample management standards available in the industry today. By combining MediMedia's innovative engagement models with Knipper's leading sales operations, white space and compliance services, Knipper solidifies its position as the nation's #1 provider of full circle, end-to-end sample-centric solutions.”

The services that it has acquired from MediMedia Health include direct-to-provider (DTP) sample fulfillment, patient assistance, and animal health services, making it capable of providing for large veterinary companies as well. Other services include call center and regulatory compliance solutions.

This is about as much as we know about the acquisition, since the actual terms agreed upon between the two parties were not revealed.

In the future, we can expect Knipper to make more efforts to consolidate and maintain its foothold on the pharmaceutical industry, enjoying a healthy level of business from a corporate environment that doesn't seem lacking in any demand. In the very near future, however, it would be of interest to see what exactly Knipper has planned with its newly acquired animal health services business. At this point, it seems as if Knipper is trying to reach as many customers as possible, grabbing all the market share it can, to become to the pharmaceutical industry what Google is to the Internet.
