AlertBoot's New Security Tool Fully Compliant With HIPAA Rule

AlertBoot Data Security announced that its latest security tool is developed to provide secured and strong HIPPA password management to offer an end-to-end organization-wide control in Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) environments. The announcement is of significant importance with the HIPAA Final Omnibus Rule reinforcing the fact that Safe Harbor from data breaches as long as the encryption software is compliant with NIST requirements. With more and more vendors in the market providing NIST-validated encryption, compliance with the rule is not highly complex.

AlertBoot, however, highlights that covered entities under the HIPAA Rule will not be able to enjoy Safe Harbor without the organization producing impeccable proof and documentation that a device was encrypted during the time of data breach. The Mobile Device Management and Full Disk Encryption, the flagship data security tools from AlertBoot, offer 100 percent compliance with the HIPAA Rule through its innovative approach of centralizing encryption management over cloud-based infrastructure. AlertBoot’s deployment process enforces the registration of the endpoint device before encryption thus empowering network administrators to track and manage the real-time encryption status of all devices in network at any given point in time.

In a release, Tim Maliyil, Founder and Chief Executive Officer at AlertBoot, said “The data security industry, the Office of Civil Rights at HHS, and medical associations and organizations have done a great job of spreading the word about encryption. The use of encryption is an important step in ensuring patient data confidentiality. However, those looking to take advantage of HIPAA Safe Harbor benefits need to do more than encrypt PHI. They need to provide documentation that encryption was used.”

AlertBoot’s security solutions also feature audit reports that can be customized as per an organizations requirements. These reports can be submitted to the regulators and authorities to confirm that the lost laptops were fully encrypted in compliance with the law before the loss of the device. These reports were admissible by the regulators for proving Safe Harbor in the event of data loss due to the loss of a device.

AlertBoot is engaged in the software for mobile device security with cloud-based data solutions. The company’s portfolio includes mobile antivirus, device auditing and mobile device management, USB drive, remote wipe and lock and hard disk encryption services.
