Affordable Care Act Website Issues Continue to Annoy

Since the launch of the Affordable Care Act exchange site, there has been one report after another of issues with the webpage. Despite those reports, there are some good things being done, now that the Affordable Care Act is officially the law of the land. Still, the reoccurring bugs have kept some people from being able to navigate the site and sign up for coverage while others have managed to get through the process just fine. Call centers like the one in Spokane, Wash., have been able to help people understand and get access to the healthcare exchange site at a good pace.

While there are some businesses that have managed to work around the problems, there are others who are only seeing the problems pile up. At this point, federal contractors believe they have pinpointed most of the main problems that have affected the website. Those same contractors say that President Obama’s administration has been slow in issuing the orders to actually carry out fixes.

Because of the foot dragging, people close to the situation say they believe it could be weeks or even months before the healthcare exchange is fully operational. The administration initially brought in the contractors to see if they could fix and reboot the system by Nov. 1. Many of the contractors who were brought in to do the job felt that deadline was not realistic.

The problems that have surrounded the healthcare exchange have been broad and go far beyond some of the most reported issues. This should come as no surprise to those who are working with and around the Affordable Care Act. Even areas that have been relatively positive have seen problems from time to time. While most of the state healthcare exchanges have been largely successful, Illinois reported it was going to have problems getting online in time.

Perhaps the most disturbing aspect of the problems surrounding the Affordable Care Act’s healthcare exchange website is that the issues might still be lurking. There are some contractors who believe that issues like account creation and registration problems could actually be masking larger problems that will surface later.
