AtHoc Reveals its Smartphone App for Home Care Market

The health care market has soared substantially in the past decade, with much of that progression attributed to state Medicare and Medicaid services available specifically for home health care, as per a new market report published by Transparency Market Research, “Home Healthcare Market – Global Industry Size, Market Share, Trends, Analysis and Forecast, 2012 – 2018.″

According to IBISWorld’s Home Care Providers market research report, featured on its website, “Industry growth has been fostered by an aging population, the prevalence of chronic disease, strengthening physician acceptance of home care and a continued movement toward cost-efficient treatment options.”

As the aging of our society progresses, the number of people who require in-home health care continues to rise. At-home caregivers (e.g., certified nursing assistants, home health aides, and personal care attendants) are an ideal option to look after the elderly, provide continued medical assistance for those who live with disabilities or critically ill patients; such guided care can be a lifesaver. A reputable home health care agency can provide such a service; “finding the right agency can be a daunting task, but not impossible,” said Tilly Gambill, Manager of Marketing and Communications for the American Association for Homecare.

Hiring the services of a reputable agency is paramount when looking for a caretaker that will, most likely, spend much time alone with the patient. The agency can provide qualified, pre-screened employees and can arrange to have reference verification for each of their caregivers.

Alternately, there is an easier option: An alarm medical alert system to provide emergency services. MobileHelp's Alert System is such an example as is their new Cellular Base Station. Such alert devices provide real-time medical monitoring services for the button-pusher who can instantly contact an emergency response operator to receive help when and where needed.

AtHoc, Inc., a company that has a strong and rapidly growing presence in healthcare as provider of emergency mass notification services, also has a multi-modal notification and communication solution to track the wellbeing of people. It is a supplier of alerting products, which deliver real-time location tracking and rapid emergency response.

The company has expanded its Interactive Warning System (IWS) suite this week with the release of the AtHoc Home Care Alerts; it is a smart app that can help protect the safety of patients and caregivers. It works much like a panic alarm for emergency communication. This is a mobile remote medical alert system with capabilities that strengthen the safety and security of personnel by providing duress alerting capabilities and geo-centric personnel tracking during home visits.

Using AtHoc’s mobile application, “the right people are instantly alerted with desktop popups, text messages, emails, phone calls and smart app push notifications,” affirmed the company.

“There is the option to activate location tracking and provide situational awareness of incidents,” said Guy Miasnik, chief executive officer at AtHoc.

In sum, with AtHoc’s emergency mass alerting app, home health staff can report any medical crisis for themselves or their patients with one click from their smartphone and receive immediate help at the person’s location. This is possible via a service provider who works with healthcare providers, like Alcatel-Lucent which offers “collaboration, mobility and systems integration tools to help improve communication.”

Such an app is ideal for the safety of patients, but is also apt for those who make visits to patients' homes as it helps home health care agencies know the whereabouts of their employees, if not safeguard their security. The app has a “check-in/check-out capability” that can alert the employer of any anomalies in the employee's (caregivers) schedule.
