MedNet Solutions and Heart Imaging Technologies Partner to Improve DICOM Images

Medical imaging technology now provides healthcare providers and researchers with very accurate imaging of the human anatomy. As the technology improves, even more invasive exploratory surgeries will be a thing of the past. Doctors will be able to view any condition clearly without ever having to make an incision. MedNet Solutions, a global life sciences technology company specializing in clinical study management systems, and Heart Imaging Technologies (Heart IT), an industry leader in Web-based medical image viewing and management solutions, have formed a partnership to integrate Heart IT's WebPAX technology with MedNet's eClinical solutions.

The collaboration between the two organizations will improve how Digital Imaging and Communications in Medicine (DICOM) images are collected and analyzed with faster, efficient and accurate results.

The DICOM Standards Committee was established in order to create an international standard for the communication of biomedical, diagnostic, and therapeutic information in regards to digital images and associated data. Establishing compatibility improves workflow efficiency between different imaging systems available around the world using medical applications to bring many of the systems being used by medical professionals.

"We're excited to offer WebPAX as a value-added option within both our iMedNet EDC and ENLIGHTEN solutions. Integrating WebPAX offers our customers numerous advantages, including easy image uploading; immediate and secure worldwide image access by sites, core labs, CROs and sponsors; and superior image viewing from within our cloud-based EDC and study management solutions," said John M. (Rob) Robertson, President and CEO of MedNet Solutions.

The WebPAX platform provides real-time imaging optimized for cardiology and radiology while reducing IT support. The enterprise ready features include:

  • FDA 510(k) and EU approvals
  • Fully HIPAA(Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act) Compliant
  • Centralized and/or distributed installations across all of your hospitals region-wide
  • EMR Integration – insert the URL and images are available health system-wide
  • DICOM Connectivity – one solution for all of your imaging devices
  • Supports all major scanner manufacturers (over 400 makes/models)
  • Onsite or Remote Installation with 24/7 Support

The platform doesn't require licensing, so WebPAX can be used by authorized hospital employees whenever they need the data, whether they are at the facility or at a remote location.

"By embedding our application within MedNet's eClinical offerings, we're able to provide MedNet's customers with a complete end-to-end solution to acquire, transmit and effectively manage all of the medical images associated within any given trial. The best part is that our imaging component is completely web-based and zero-footprint: It does not require the user to download any software to view the images. This new process is a quantum leap ahead of the current manual processes which are both time-consuming and inefficient," said Dr. Robert M. Judd, President for Heart IT.
