New App Allows Users to Get Fit with NFL's Tony Gonzalez

NFL Hall of Famer Tony Gonzalez knows a thing or two about training. Now, thanks to a new app, Apple users have the opportunity to train with him (virtually, of course). San Francisco-based FitStar helps its users to achieve various goals, like “Get Lean,” “Get Strong” and “Get Moving.”

Regarding FitStar’s decision to select Tony Gonzalez for their first app, CEO Mike Maser said, “Tony and FitStar share the same vision of making fitness and wellness more accessible, appealing and inspiring to a broad audience,” calling the collaboration a “natural fit.” Gonzalez called his involvement an “incredible honor” and said that while the programs are highly customizable, they are from his real exercise and nutrition regimen.

In a recent statement, the company described its app as one that caters to a “mobile, on-the-go lifestyle,” thanks to the fact that it “requires little to no equipment by focusing on a range of dynamic exercises that use body weight.” These exercises, they promise busy fitness enthusiasts, can be done (practically) “anytime, anywhere.”

The app allows for the ultimate in flexibility, not only catering to every lifestyle, but also every level of athlete (or non-athlete), from the novice to the expert. To tailor the program to suit the user, FitStar utilizes an initial fitness test, ensuring that everyone receives a custom experience.

To make the experience even better, users are able to stream the content to their television. It also incorporates the supportive (or competitive, depending on the person) aspects of many popular fitness apps, allowing users to connect to friends and family to track progress.

FitStar has not indicated when they are planning to bring the application to Android, but the company did state that they look forward to developing FitStar for other mobile device users, based on the feedback that they receive from their Apple users.
