Ingram Micro Introduces New Web-based Training and Education Modules

The announcement came at the Ingram Micro IMHealthcare Exchange, which was hosted by Ingram Micro's Healthcare Division and sponsored by more than 35 technology vendors. The education module is a Web based training program created by Ingram Micro's healthcare team, healthcare industry experts and thought leaders.

Ingram Micro is the world's largest wholesale technology distributor and leader in IT supply chain. It serves around 160 countries on six continents with IT products and services, giving it access to vendors, resellers and channel partners globally.

Ingram Micro will be releasing modules throughout 2013 on different topics, including mobile health, barcoding technology, storage and compliance. The initial online module, titled "Intro to Health and Intro to Health IT," is available now to Ingram Micro Channel partners for free.

According to the company, the US healthcare IT sector is expected to generate around $40 billion in annual sales with an annual growth of almost 23 percent through 2015. Almost 50 percent of the expenditure or $19 billion is going to be driven by federal grants mandating the healthcare system across the nation to update its technology.

In order to take advantage of what is taking place in the healthcare industry, solution providers have to be informed with the technological requirements and regulatory compliance hurdles they will face. Electronic medical records (EMRs), document management, networking and mobility, security and data encryption services, advanced imaging, storage, backup and recovery, and cloud computing are some of the fields in which opportunities will be presenting themselves.

"Training and educating our channel partners on how to be successful selling, and deploying health IT solutions is a top priority for Ingram Micro, says Michael Humke, executive director, Vertical Markets, Healthcare and Public Sector, Ingram Micro U.S. “We're invested in health IT and committed to driving this industry forward. We've enabled hundreds of channel partners with the insights, technology solutions and business resources they need to address the needs of the healthcare market, and we're just getting started."
