The current Hispanic population in the United States stands at more than 52 million, which makes up almost 17 percent of the total population. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, this number is projected to rise to more than 130 million by 2050, making it the fastest growing segment in the country. As this population gets older, it will require the same services as the rest of the population, but with Spanish-speaking features. Medical Guardian is a leading provider of Personal Emergency Response Systems (PERS) that is addressing the needs of Spanish-speaking seniors by launching PrimeroAlertaMedica.com.
When family members are not present, PERS provide peace of mind by delivering direct access to emergency services against falls, fires, home intrusions and other types of emergencies. Medical Guardian developed PrimeroAlertaMedica.com because the growing senior Hispanic population was not being addressed by current personal emergency response systems in the market. Currently, it is the only medical alert company with a Spanish-language site for their services.
The site is designed from the ground up to help Spanish-speaking seniors and their family members get the right information about the services of Medical Guardian. The company guarantees Spanish-speaking customers will be connected to customer service representatives that speak Spanish when they inquire about the company's home and mobile medical alert systems. The guarantee also extends to being connected to medically trained dispatchers at local Medical Guardian call centers.
"We really wanted to make sure that our Spanish-speaking customers were represented in the conversation about senior health and well-being. We are thrilled to be the first in our industry to directly engage with the Spanish-speaking community," said Grant Eckert, director of marketing for Medical Guardian.
The medical alarm system has a two-way base station that is plugged into a telephone jack in the home. A small medical alarm button that is worn by the senior remotely activates the base station if there is an emergency. When the base station is activated, it notifies the monitoring center and they in turn call emergency services. The system can be used not only for seniors, but also individuals that require assistance with daily living.
"Medical Guardian has tailored the customer experience to better serve our Spanish-speaking seniors and their loved ones. Our goal is to provide the best service to all of our senior customers, who choose to live with a restored sense of independence," said Geoff Gross, CEO of Medical Guardian.
