onFocus Healthcare, a 25-employee provider of healthcare performance management solutions, was recently named on Gartner Inc’s list of “Cool Vendors in Healthcare Providers.” By being recognized on this report, onFocus Healthcare distinguishes itself as a leader in its field. There are many performance management software companies, but not many that focus specifically on the healthcare industry, which can function very differently from other industries. Due to the unique needs of the healthcare industry, onFocus Healthcare has been able to find a niche to fill, and fill it well.
As the healthcare industry shifts from a fee-for-service reimbursement model to a risk-based one, new software is needed to help facilitate that change. onFocus provides this with software that monitors employees’ performance and accountability, as well as tracking important results. Although the company itself is relatively small, its software is used in 350 hospitals and produces impressive results; companies using onFocus Healthcare’s software have seen up to a 30-percent improvement in the accomplishment of strategic and operational objectives. The number of companies using the software is also set to grow, as onFocus has the goal to be used by 500 hospitals by the end of the year.
It was for reasons like these that onFocus Healthcare received the honor of being listed in Gartner’s list. The study is conducted in a non-exhaustive manner, with winners being determined by picking those companies whose technologies have “caught Gartner’s interest or curiosity” or are found to be intriguing, impactful or innovative. Other companies that made the list this year include Phytel, which provides software for population health improvement. The list of healthcare providers is published on an annual basis along with other lists of cool vendors, including those in storage technologies, web technology, cloud management and developers.
