Polycom showcased a number of technology and developer partner solutions for healthcare applications at the HIMSS 2013 Conference. These solutions leverage the Polycom HD video, voice and content sharing and management capabilities.
Polycom RealPresence is used by healthcare organizations around the world to augment the delivery of care and information through HD quality video conferencing.
For example, when RealPresence is combined with AMD Global Telemedicine's series of cameras, dermascopes, nasopharyngoscopes, ophthalmoscopes, and telephonic stethoscopes, it creates a set of easy-to-use, high-quality telemedicine tools. Similarly, RealPResence can connect with Eceptionist — a Web-based solution that supports telehealth, referrals, scheduling and reporting — to schedule and manage all aspects of virtual collaboration.
At HIMSS 2013, Polycom will demonstrate a handful of use cases, including: how collaborative multipoint video calls use RealPresence to connect care teams, patients and family for better discharge planning; how RealPresence can deliver prevention and wellness programs to patients at home or in long-term care settings; and using the Polycom RealPresence Practitioner Cart 8000 to connect distant patients to specialists.

In February, ScanSource Communications became Polycom's first North American Authorized Training Partner, allowing the company to offer certification classes and training for Polycom RealPresence solutions, helping more resellers bring these solutions to market.
In January, Polycom demonstrated how its RealPresence collaboration solutions can integrate with IBM social business applications to offer an improved social business experience.
