Zynx Health, a provider of evidence-based clinical decision support (CDS) solutions to improve patient outcomes and lower costs, announced that Black Book Rankings has selected the company as “the leading CDS solution vendor overall for client experience and customer satisfaction.”
Zynx Health was chosen based on a survey of 2,808 CDS users, “the largest survey of CDS vendors to date,” the press release stated. Forty-two vendors across 18 states were rated for operational excellence key performance indicators (KPIs). Zynx Health was ranked No. 1 in 12 of the 18 KPIs.
Black Book Rankings is a technology and services market research and opinion company. It is known internationally for accurate, impartial customer satisfaction surveys in the services and software industries.
Reports noted that a recent study by Black Book “estimates that standardizing care by implementing evidence-based CDS into the clinical workflow via the electronic health record (EHR) may help save more than $35 billion annually.”
CDS tools are used to help doctors in diagnosis and treatment decisions.
Surveying physicians, hospital quality officers, IT/clinical informatics staff, nurses, radiologists, pharmacists, and ancillary staff, Black Book found that one of the main reasons healthcare organizations purchased CDS solutions in 2012 was for support in accountable care (ACO) and payment reform. ACOs are a key part of health reform and are set up to pay doctors based on outcomes, not on what they charge.
Organizations that will become ACOs and assume financial risk will require a CDS solution to maximize shared savings. They will play a bigger and bigger part in health reform as doctors and hospitals come together to create the seamless electronic highway the new law requires. Cuts in performance measurements were put in place in November to make it easier for doctors and hospitals to participate.
Seventy percent of survey respondents listed ACOs as a top reason for satisfaction with CDS, and Zynx scored the highest for accountable care support.
“We are honored to be ranked No. 1 among 42 CDS solution vendors overall,” said Scott Weingarten, MD, MPH, president and CEO of Zynx Health, in a statement. “In addition, we are pleased that we ranked first among the 42 CDS vendors in accountable care, as creating CDS solutions to enable organizations to succeed in an era of payment reform has been a very high priority for Zynx Health during the past few years.”
