Connecture Unveils Industry Heads' Views on Healthcare Reform

Connecture, Inc recently carried out a survey regarding the future of health insurance in the United States. The results of the survey, which was carried out on the exhibit hall floor of AHIP's Institute 2012 conference, have now been released by Connecture.

The individual views of the top industrialists, who are responsible for planning the prospect of health insurance in the United States, were revealed in the survey. The results also included views on reform, the Supreme Court's impending decision on the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, or PPACA, which is responsible for the rise in healthcare expenses and politics.

Online marketplaces and exchanges are developed by Connecture, which are used by a majority of the biggest health insurance carriers for advertising, supervising and managing their products. Systems developed by Connecture are currently being used by at least 25 million Americans for buying their health insurance.

In a release, Doug Schneider, CEO of Connecture said, "It's no secret that we're at an inflection point that will determine how we as a nation will address the social and business questions inherent in healthcare and healthcare reform. The one thing that is abundantly clear to everyone, regardless of political ideology or role in the industry, is that we need to be smarter about leveraging technology to create efficiencies and help ensure that healthcare and health insurance are affordable and accessible for all."

According to the survey, the majority of the insurance executives believe that exchanges will be used to purchase the bulk of health insurance within five years. Thirty-three percent of the executives also believe that these exchanges will be managed by the government. A majority of the respondents stated that most of the small businesses will cease to offer health insurance to their employees from five years hence.

According to 28 percent of the respondents, private-sector giants like Walmart will be responsible for reducing the healthcare expenses. Over 50 percent of the respondents believe that the impending Supreme Court ruling is expected to benefit President Barack Obama. Half of the respondents have also blamed unhealthy living habits for the rise in healthcare expenses.
