Sui Generis Health (SGH), a privately owned medical education and strategic marketing agency with experience in several therapeutic categories, announced today that it has established a strategic partnership with Health 2.0 to work with that company on strategy and planning in conjunction with its Developer Challenge program.
The program is a series of prize challenges in which “IT developers work together to develop new and enhance existing healthcare IT applications to address the continuous need for improvements in a rapidly changing environment,” according to an SGH press release.
Health 2.0 is currently engaged in keeping the healthcare world up-to-date on new developments and innovations in health technology and information technology, through its conferences and social media channels, to meet the evolving needs of the industry. At its conferences, it says it demonstrates new healthcare software platforms; provides market intelligence, data and research to inform decision- makers; helps organizations commercialize, pilot and scale technologies, and supports a community of health technology innovators both locally and globally.
Developer Challenge teams are judged by a panel of industry experts based on their innovation and collaboration in healthcare IT and healthcare reform. Winners are awarded cash prizes for the most innovative applications.
The developer challenges include finding new ways to do everything from ocular imaging, providing successful aging recommendations, to better reporting of patient safety events.
Health 2.0 is also behind the recent move, the Choosing Wisely Campaign, to get doctors and patients to more carefully think about what makes a test or procedure necessary to reduce costs and possible patient harm. The campaign is backed by the American Medical Association, especially where it intersects with cancer treatment and testing, and the FDA, who recently unveiled an initiative to get doctors to reduce unnecessary radiation treatments.
"Our partnership with Health 2.0 combines the passions of two organizations that care very much about innovation in healthcare IT," said Linda Meredith, CEO and founder of Sui Generis Health, in the press release. "Since 2004, SGH has brought together strategic marketers, scientists, PhDs, and software developers to create strategic marketing and medical education platforms designed to move market share and influence audiences through cutting edge thinking. We look forward to working with the Health 2.0 team to expand awareness of its Developer Challenges and to create enduring materials and provide hands-on support as we execute each of the prize challenges."
