Akvelon Unveils Health Guard, the First Consumer Focused Windows 7 Mobile App

Akvelon, a business and technology consulting firm, announced that its newly unveiled Health Guard is the first ever consumer focused Windows 7 Mobile Application designed to help users access Microsoft HealthVault.

Akvelon asserted that the Windows Phone platform provides rich user experience and tight security, which help mitigate the ever-increasing privacy concerns among mobile users.

Mobile technology is becoming increasingly popular with Healthcare IT organizations, enabling new scenarios and creating new opportunities to better serve patients. Akvelon believes in the emerging market for mobile apps that enhance customer experience. The company developed the Health Guard application that enables people to access their HealthVault account data on the go. Users can personally add new measurements and health information.

The application follows strict security and privacy compliance guidelines which are enforced by HealthVault, including requiring explicit user authorization to access health records. Health Guard gives authorized medical professionals access to real-time data, making it easier to monitor the health of patients with chronic conditions.

The company explained that it analyzed numerous platforms and their capabilities to act as the ideal foundation for this innovative app. Then Akvelon chose Windows 7 Mobile platform as it is the most accessible and intuitive for end users. The Windows Phone 7 platform provides a rich foundation and innovative programming architecture that provides appealing user experiences and integrates easily with other solutions operating on Microsoft platforms.

Microsoft HealthVault offers a central repository for health information that individuals can gather from across the spectrum of healthcare. It supports a growing ecosystem of connected, user-friendly applications, so individuals can keep a comprehensive, up-to-date record of their health information in a place where they can view and share it with whomever they choose.

“This is now part of our vision for improved health outcomes and consumer empowerment through connected health,” a Microsoft HealthVault Program Manager remarked after watching the Health Guard demonstration.
