The German Medical Aid Organization action medeor e.V. Has Become an Official Partner of the Global GOALS for SOUTH AFRICA Campaign!

COLOGNE, Germany, March 11, 2010 /PRNewswire via COMTEX/ -- The GOALS for SOUTH AFRICA campaign, a global effort to raise awareness and money for the fight against HIV/AIDS in South Africa and the rest of the world, is teaming up with German medical aid organization action medeor. As part of the cooperative effort, the GOALS for SOUTH AFRICA campaign is issuing an appeal for assistance for the medeor project in the South African township of Masiphumelele. The project gives a home and family life to AIDS orphans and provides them with the medical and psychological assistance they need.

GOALS for SOUTH AFRICA is a private initiative that originated in late 2009 with the objective of capitalizing on the media attention paid to the Soccer World Cup 2010 to increase global awareness of the problem of HIV/AIDS in South Africa and the rest of the world. In addition the campaign wants to raise as much money as possible in donations, and use the money to fund educational projects designed to stem the spread of the disease. The campaign will kick off in April 2010.

action medeor was established in 1964 to provide basic drugs and medical equipment to people in developing countries. medeor is also involved in fighting the poverty-related and tropical diseases HIV/AIDS, tuberculosis and malaria. action medeor supports around 10.000 healthcare centres, particularly small facilities, in 140 countries. action medeor sends drugs and medical equipment to developing countries, either at cost price or as donations.
