Veeva Systems Named Top Pharmaceutical CRM Provider by IDC

Veeva Systems has been named by IDC Health Insights as the leading pharmaceutical CRM provider.

“As more and more pharmaceutical companies experiment with different ways to cut costs while boosting productivity, the industry is seeing the advantages of cloud-based technologies and leaning heavily on them as a key part of the solution," said Eric Newmark, program director for IDC Health Insights. "When it comes to CRM systems, cloud technology is growing rapidly not only the U.S. pharmaceutical industry, but across all markets worldwide."

The research firm's findings are documented in a new report, “IDC Health Insights Report, Perspective: The Changing Face of Pharma CRM.”

The report details the results of a six-month study of the industry, citing the Pleasanton, Calif.-based company's growth in 2011 and 2010, especially its explosive growth in its user base and services. The company expanded the number of its user 100 percent each year, totaling a number of 160 customers and over 60,000 users around the world.

Veeva has over 10,000 users in Europe, 5,000 users in China and over 1,000 users in Asia.

"No CRM vendor has capitalized on the transition away from client/server software and laptop-driven technology to cloud-based software and tablet-driven field technology better than Veeva," the report said.

Veeva's latest product is Vault PromoMats, a solution for developing promotional materials based in the cloud. It boasts 16 customers in the life sciences in the nine months since its launch, which Veeva said includes large pharmaceutical companies and smaller specialty organizations as well.

PromoMats is part of a suite of cloud-based content management applications for life sciences, dubbed Veeva Vault.

“We had outgrown a server-based approach for content management, so we wanted cloud technology and a company-wide solution that could effectively serve diverse masters across the business – Regulatory, CMC, Clinical, Sales and Marketing, HR, Finance and Legal – with different requirements for user knowledge, compliance and security. Vault was the right solution for us," Jeff Webster, vice president of operations at Kythera, one of Veeva's customers, said in June.
