General Dynamics Wins $95 Million Contract from Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services



General Dynamics Information Technology, a business unit of General Dynamics, has won a $95 million task order to continue providing claims processing support to the Department of Health and Human Services' Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services.

ISO 9001:2008 registered, General Dynamics recently achieved the first Healthcare Application Service Provider hosting environment Common Security Framework certification from the Health Information Trust Alliance.

To support the Durable Medical Equipment, Prosthetics, Orthotics and Supplies system General Dynamics will perform computer software services.

General Dynamics Information Technology's ViPS Medicare System software will be used by CMS to process approximately 240,000 claims received daily. 

"General Dynamics' 30-year history supporting Medicare and DMEPOS claims has given us the extensive knowledge and established relationship to provide high-quality software releases for maximum efficiency and systems performance improvement," said Marcus Collier, senior vice president of General Dynamics Information Technology's Civilian and Homeland Security Solutions division, in a press release.

He further added, "We remain committed to consistently meeting CMS release schedules, streamlining business operations and to quick and accurate claims adjudication."

By improving the efficiency and effectiveness of claims processing operations and for timely implementation of statutory and regulatory requirements, General Dynamics will continue to meet CMS' objectives.

In a statement, Tammy Kness, vice president in General Dynamics Information Technology's Health IT Solutions sector, said, "We will work to concurrently maintain the stability of the Medicare DMEPOS claims processing environment, extend the life of this mission critical CMS system, and reduce maintenance costs through continued automation and modernized processes."

In response to CMS mandates, the company will issue software releases every quarter.

In related news, General Dynamics Information Technology, a business unit of General Dynamics received a five year, single award contract for $83.6 million to provide information technology enterprise network services to the U.S. Special Operations Command.
