athenahealth's Cloud-based Services Drive Comprehensive Patient Care at FQHCs

athenahealth, Inc recently announced that its cloud-based services will now help improve patient care at two Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHCs) - Manet Community Health Center and Community Health Programs. The company specializes in cloud-based practice management, EHR, patient communication and care coordination services.

In a release, Jonathan Bush, athenahealth CEO and chairman, said, “athenahealth’s low-cost, high-touch model is a perfect match for FQHCs that are challenged to do care better, often under more extreme circumstances. Administrative complexities, lack of information exchange, and other inefficiencies in health care threaten not only their viability but their ability to provide quality care in critically underserved areas. athenahealth’s goal is to relieve these burdens and allow physicians more time to focus on patient care. We are honored to be advancing the mission and goals of FQHCs nationwide.”

 The deployment of the company’s solutions at the two health centres further builds on the company’s record of successful deployments, which include the Hudson Headwaters Health Network and the Three Lower Counties Community Services.

Henry Tuttle, CEO at Manet, said that, “Prior to working with athenahealth, we were experiencing unmitigated business interruption. We were also investing in cumbersome hardware that required us to shift valuable time and resources from the practice of medicine to managing our IT. athenahealth’s cloud-based solutions have enabled us to redirect our efforts from the ‘server room’ to the exam room.”

FQHCs function as community-based organizations that focus on providing residents with primary healthcare regardless of their ages and capacity to pay for services. FQHCs, which are federally funded, are constantly facing issues pertaining to efficient management of patient healthcare within the populations they serve in keeping with multiple federally mandated performance and accountability standards. These standards ensure quality compliance in administration, clinical, and financial operations and serve to drive robust and optimized coordinated care.
