eHealth Technology Platform Set to Power Blue Shield, Blue Cross Private Insurance Exchange

eHealth Inc., a national online insurance resource for individuals, families and small businesses, will now power Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Minnesota private health insurance exchange. This online exchange selection and enrollment tool will allow the new Blue Choice contribution solution by Blue Cross to control healthcare costs and offer a range of health care benefits to client employees.

The Blue Choice group policies contribution model will allow employers to allocate a certain amount of dollars toward an employee’s health coverage, after which employees are free to shop among the plan offerings that suits them.

The services contain variables such as deductible amounts and co-payment for each selection. A three-year guarantee is also available for additional health benefit costs control to employers. With the eHealth Technology platform, employers can now customize the tool to allow them to choose dental and educational resources, and allow employees to see how much they are contributing toward the total premium cost.

This agent and employer visibility will also make it easy to add or remove employees from plans and provide employee support when necessary.

“The idea of private health insurance exchanges is becoming increasingly popular among insurers who want to help employers control their healthcare costs,” said Bill Hanis, the VP of eHealth Technology, Exchange Solutions. “With over 14 years experience in the commercial health insurance marketplace, Mr. Hanis said eHealthinsurance is able to build simple and easy-to-use custom exchanges quickly and confidently for consumer use. The eHealth Technology is also scalable and easily adapts by offering adaptable hosted solution features and functionality.

The eHealth Technology exchange platform provides hosted Web-based insurance exchanges, cost-effective to power and streamline online sales and application processes. The eHealth Broker Exchange for carriers and general agents is a cloud-based online system that provides business management capabilities and comparison and shopping system for a variety of health plans. These tools help brokers market and sell their health plan offerings online.
